Performance additives for thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity

Effective solutions to extend the service life and performance of your materials

Thanks to its geometric honeycomb structure and form factor, graphene is an excellent thermal and electrical conductor. Used as an additive in your materials, it provides new functions such as de-icing, stealth and conductivity, optimizing the thermal and electrical management of your products. Such properties make these nanocomposites excellent candidates for replacing metallic elements in certain applications.

Graph’Up range to meet different challenges

Thermal and electrical conductivity

Graph'Up additives optimize heat dissipation and limit hot spots, protecting your equipment from overheating, especially batteries and fuel cells subject to irregular operating cycles. To ensure good performance without the risk of ignition, they must not overheat. Carbon Waters is also studying the impact of graphene inside electrodes, with the aim of increasing their density and thus boosting the power and charging speed of fuel cells and batteries.

Thermally conductive adhesives

Added to a matrix, Graph'Up performance additives improve the thermal conductivity of adhesives and glues, evenly and in all directions of the adhesive joint. In particular, this allows heat to be conducted and ensures good thermal continuity of assemblies without the addition of special mechanical parts, thus reducing the overall weight of structures.

Heat-transfer fluids

These fluids are used to power heating and cooling systems in thermal and electric motors. They are extremely important for regulating the temperature of space equipment and datacenters. Enriched with Graph'Up additives, these fluids dissipate heat, protecting the entire motor, therefore extending its lifespan.

De-icing coatings

Conventional de-icing techniques require either the use of polluting, non-recyclable products (such as glycol), or the incorporation of mechanical elements. Adding Graph'Up additives into composite materials offers a more eco-responsible and less time-consuming alternative (no additional operations or added parts). Their thermoelectric properties heat the material, preventing the formation of frost (de-icing). They help ensure that equipments are operating correctly and safely.

Flame-retardant materials

Fire resistance is directly linked to the way a material behaves as a combustible. For safety reasons, strict regulations govern the use of coatings and protective additives. Graph'Up additives optimize the flame-retardant properties of materials. When temperatures peak they dissipate heat, preventing the formation of hot spots.

Electrostatic dissipative materials

As electrical and electronic components become increasingly dense, the problem of electrostatic discharges (ESD) needs to be addressed. Graph'Up additives offer a cost-effective solution to prevent static build-up and arcing, and to comply with EN and ISO electrostatic discharge standards. By reducing these discharges, the risk of explosion is also reduced in ATEX environments.
