About us

The story of Carbon Waters

The origins of Carbon Waters lie in the story of one man. Alban Chesneau, who holds a PhD in life sciences and was formerly employed by one of Europe’s leading research institutes and a performance-through-innovation consultancy, is passionate about science and, above all, supporting technologically innovative ideas. This ambition is rooted in his biotechnology studies, which he perfected through a multi-disciplinary PhD (Biochemistry, Computer Science and Automation), which he began shortly after the first complete human genome was sequenced.

Having been involved in a variety of roles supporting technological projects at European level and for different business sectors (pharmaceuticals, chemicals, IT and agriculture), it was through his interactions with two CNRS researchers and a former entrepreneur that he founded Carbon Waters at the end of 2017.

My experience has introduced me to a wide range of technological innovations. In terms of impact, application and complexity, what Carbon Waters is achieving surpasses the vast majority of technologies developed in recent years, and all the more so in a very demanding energy and environmental context. Industrializing our solutions

Our unique process for producing graphene through mechanical and chemical exfoliation and, above all, our ability to offer “ready-to-use” liquid performance additives for manufacturers, have established us as a leader in the field of advanced materials for transport, energy and space.

Since the outset, every customer we have worked with has been able to technically validate the performance of our solutions. That’s why we want to support more companies facing the major challenges of the industry of tomorrow. Our aim is to expand our production capacity to handle higher volumes and support growing demand.

Thanks to the financial support of several investors, in late 2022 Carbon Waters was able to raise funds for the construction of a pilot factory, scheduled for completion in 2024.

Our technology

The Carbon Waters
ecosystem

Carbon Waters’ reputation and strong capacity for innovation earn the trust of numerous regional, national and international industrial partners who support our projects.

Our membership of various industry associations and competitive clusters also enables to work collectively to build a modern industrial environment, with everyone contributing their technical expertise and skills for the future of advanced materials.
